Celtic Renewables is bio-technology company on a path to the global commercialisation of their patented technology that converts low value by-products, residues and wastes into high value green chemicals using an innovative adaptation of the century-old proven Acetone-Butanol-Ethanol (ABE) fermentation process.

As the Distillation SME for the site you will provide expert knowledge, training of operators, and technical improvements to ensure that the distillation columns are running efficiently whilst consistently producing ABE that meets specification.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the separated bio-solvents meet specification, and identify and implement improvements to optimise the distillation process.

A key part of this role is the training and development of the site operators to ensure that they have the knowledge and ability required to successfully operate the columns.

This role will require flexible working, including some shift work, to fully commission the columns and move to steady state continuous operation.

You will be a key member of the operations team to resolve plant issues, whilst ensuring that the skillset of the operations team is continually improved.

You will identify and implement various improvements in the columns, covering health and safety, quality, throughput and yield.

**Essential**
- Extensive working knowledge of continuous distillation columns, with relevant experience ideally in a petrochemical or equivalent industry where multi-stage columns are used.
- A minimum of 5 years’ practical hands-on distillation experience covering operations and optimisation of the columns.
- Ability to optimise the distillation process, troubleshoot, and fine tune control loops where required.
- Extensive knowledge of impurities and how to efficiently remove and optimise these.
- Fully competent with SCADA systems, ideally Siemens PCS7.
- Proven experience with training of operators to an exceptional standard, and development of training material and SOP’s.
- A positive can-do attitude with exceptional attention to detail and a passion for developing others.
