This is an exciting opportunity to lead a Clinical Academic Partnership focussed on women and children’s health. The role will include leading operational delivery of an ambitious programme of work spanning clinical-academic development and integration as well as education and training. The post-holder will work with colleagues across the King’s Health Partner organisations to deliver an exciting and impactful programme of work. The role is highly varied and ideal for someone looking to lead a talented team to deliver innovative partnership working across the NHS and King’s College London university.

To deliver in this role you will need experience of working in complex systems, and an ability to lead with confidence across organisational boundaries. You will have a strong track record of inclusive leadership across multi-professional teams, and an ability to build and nurture collaborative relationships. You will need a proven history of operational and strategic management and will have a good understanding of Higher Education as well as the NHS landscape. In this role, you will lead the Women and Children’s Health Clinical Academic Partnership workstreams, which include: embedding research in the NHS via an innovative advisory service; working with colleagues to support research and research career development; and enabling the development and delivery of multi-professional education and training. You will demonstrate a high level of skill in communicating with different stakeholders and be adept at using your initiative. This role will also provide opportunities to lead on KHP-wide initiatives.

The KHP Women’s and Children’s Clinical Academic Partnership (KHP WCH)

**Research in the KHP WCH has three major themes**: survive, thrive, and transform; including research on major causes of mortality for women and children, research to improve health and wellbeing across the life course, and research on health systems and policy problems.

KHP WCH is hosted by the Evelina London Clinical Group, and is part of the King’s Health Partners’ portfolio of Institutes and Clinical Academic Groups.

The Head of Programmes will support an expanding and complex agenda as the partnership progresses its ambitious implementation plans for its vision of excellence in women and children’s health, research and education. The post-holder will work closely with the Director to ensure that the programme of activities to support delivery of the partnership’s vision are timely, appropriately resourced and briefed, and are effectively delivering their required outputs.

Building on partnership work to date, the Head of Programmes role will have full managerial responsibility for the development and delivery of an effective and efficient clinical academic integration and transformation programme across Partners. This will require the ability to the ability to influence and deliver successfully in a complex, multi-organisational and multi-professional networked model. As Head of Programmes, the post holder will be a senior member of the KHP Women and Children’s Health Clinical Academic Partnership.

The Head of Programmes role will work with Director level clinical, academic and operational teams to ensure clinical academic plans are designed to deliver the Partnership’s strategic and business objectives including facilitating the development and implementation of strategic initiatives aimed at building clinical academic capacity; and connectivity across the partnership. This will require changes to be made to ways of working across partner organisations, and the post holder will require well developed influencing and negotiating skills to drive change where no direct managerial or financial levers apply.

The Head of Programmes will be responsible for ensuring effective engagement and joint working with patient and carer representatives, health and social care professionals and other members of constituent organisations in partnership activities and approach. This will include frequent travel between all partner sites as required.

The post holder will be responsible for leading an effective and skilled team to ensure that strategic objectives of the KHP WCH Clinical Academic Partnership programme are delivered to required timescales, and are strategically aligned with other major strategic programmes across the partnership.
