An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time, Band 6, PBS Specialist Practitioner for a new project delivering PBS training to providers, carers and families of Children and Young People with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism.

Initially the role will be Fixed Term for 18 months

These exciting new roles have been created to roll out PBS training across Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire to:

- Carers: Parents/Foster Carers/Respite Carers (creating Parent Ambassadors)
- Community care: Paid Carers/ Dom care/ Residential Homes/Voluntary and Third Sector Organisations
- Education: Special Schools/Residential Schools /Social Workers/ SEND services and educational psychologists.

**Essential requirements for this role**:

- Degree level professional qualification in nursing, AHP, Social Work or Therapist
- Evidence of post-graduate qualification, experience of working in or working towards a learning disability field or equivalent.
- Evidence of post registration training.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in sphere of professional practice.
- Evidence of Professional updating and development in the delivery services to people with learning disabilities with behavioural of concern.

A desirable attribute would be a qualification or further training in Positive Behavioural Support e.g. BILD/ CAPS course

The post holder will be responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of a high-quality training package to the audience outlined, supporting the implementation of PBS in line with evidence based, and best practice.

**The post holder will**:

- provide ongoing group supervision to community providers around PBS
- support and facilitate an online forum which practitioners using PBS across the geographical patch can access, providing peer support, sharing best practice and providing a programme of expert speakers aimed at improving the quality of PBS
- scope the need for further training in PBS across the life span for CYP with learning disabilities and or autism.
- develop a high-quality PBS plan template alongside colleagues and support its implementation across services
- be responsible for evaluating the success of the project and sharing findings and recommendations with service users, colleagues, CCG and the wider system, and for developing metrics to evidence value

To have the responsibility for the delivery of PBS training to provider services of people with learning disabilities across Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent.

Coordinating clinical forum, liaison with the wider Learning Disabilities Teams and other appropriate teams, services and agencies.

Immediate problem solving and decision making and contributing to long term planning for future developments both within the immediate clinical area and within the service area.

To ensure that the values and principles of the organisation and of the service area are translated into the philosophy and operational policy of the clinical team and that these are evident in everyday practice.

To contribute to the instilling of the values that promote the rights of the individual and wherever possible aim to protect the autonomy of the service user and involve them in their care.

Ensure awareness of the standards under the professional body in which you are registered with or accountable to.

To always act in a manner that inspires the confidence of others and promotes the credibility of the service. Act as a role model for junior staff and provide guidance upon appropriate professional behaviour.

Contribute to the development, setting and maintaining of those standards.

To ensure that new policy legislation, recommendations and guidelines are effectively communicated, understood and integrated into daily practice. (See appendix for examples of the same)

Maintain working practices that promote interagency and multidisciplinary working and ensure effective and accurate communication with particular emphasis upon inpatient facilities and the interface between inpatient and community care. Attend appropriate meetings / forums to ensure that the wider clinical team
