Senior Specialist Asd Practitioner

We are looking to recruit to a full time, Band 7 Senior Specialist ASD Practitioner to join our team conducting diagnostic assessments and providing post-diagnostic support to children, young people and their families. This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding multidisciplinary team, working in a CQC Outstanding rated Trust.
The post holder would join our friendly multi-disciplinary team and work with our Autism Spectrum Disorder Service, with close links with the Mental Health Services and Local Authority Partners. The main aspects of the role include conducting specialist autism assessments, contributing to MDT diagnostic and formulation meetings and, planning and facilitating post-diagnosis support.
To provide specialist clinical assessment, formulation and therapeutic intervention to children, young people and adults with a suspected Autistic Spectrum Disorder and/or with other neuro-developmental/learning disabilities, complex emotional, psychological and behavioural difficulties, and their families. Providing advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals and non-professionals who may be involved in the person’s care.
Plan, prioritise and manage own clinical caseload, research and development activities, and personal programme of continuing professional development. Working autonomously in accordance with professional codes of practice and Trust policies and procedures.
In consultation and collaboration with the Management Team, other team members and service users, advise on the development of the service.
To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development, and research with the population served by the team.
Supervise more junior staff where appropriate.

To establish and maintain productive working relationships with clients, family members (who frequently present with highly distressing and emotional issues), and others involved in the person’s care including professionals from health, education and social care and other members of non-statutory organisations.
To provide specialist clinical assessment of clients referred to the team based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex information from a variety of sources including self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client’s care.
To support the Management Team in the delivery of the Autism Assessment Service and where needed, to lead on tasks or projects.
To work collaboratively implementing a range of post-diagnostic support for individuals, carers, families and groups, adjusting and refining formulations as appropriate whilst maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.
