**Job overview**:
Following the creation of a new senior Estates leadership team, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic estates professional at University Hospitals Birmingham in a new role as Associate Director of Operational Estates for you to develop your career at the largest healthcare trust in the country in a dynamic and rewarding environment.

You will lead a team of professional estates staff based at each of our four acute sites and be responsible for all estates matters concerning the maintenance and compliance of a complex portfolio of buildings and infrastructure.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
You will be the Trust's lead for ensuring compliance of estates services along with developing risk treatment plans and the development and implementation of new ways of working to improve the in-house level of technical capabilities and skills. You will drive the agenda to devise and implement new technology and review opportunities to modernise systems to improve services and resilience.

Working with a wide range of staff groups both within the Trust and its external partners, you will communicate complex technical matters and provide strategic leadership to the organisation.

Reporting to the Deputy Director, this new role will work closely with the Director of Operational Estates and senior leadership team to introduce an integrated approach for the directorate across all sites, identify opportunities for change and efficient ways of working, develop clear investment strategies along with future workforce plans.

Educated to minimum of degree masters level in building, mechanical or electrical disciplines or equivalent experience

Specialist knowledge across the range of estates and facilities standards, regulations and compliance acquired through postgraduate experience and further training.

Extensive Senior Management experience/ Master's level qualification & managerial strategic & professional experience

Previous experience in managing major contracts
