**Description of Duties**

**Senior Lecturer**
- Engage in individual and collaborative research of international standard, which aligns to the strategic direction of the Institute of Aquaculture and the wider University research strategy and establish and lead a distinctive programme of research with demonstrable impact.
- Identify appropriate sources of funding, lead research proposals for external funding bodies and manage grants awarded
- Disseminate research outputs creatively including publication in leading international conferences and high impact journals, books and conference proceedings
- Lead team supervision of research students and, provide direction, support and guidance to junior colleagues
- Design, deliver and assess a range of teaching and learning, supervision and assessment activities across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes including online/digital programmes where required
- Demonstrate leadership in implementation of Institute strategy
- Contribute to curriculum review and enhancement through mentorship of junior colleagues, to support a research-led approach to student learning

**Associate Professor**
- Contribute to the strategic research leadership of the Faculty and to mentor, support and encourage the research and scholarship activities of colleagues within the Faculty
- Conduct, publish and otherwise disseminate outstanding research of international standing and engage in activities to support the impact of research
- Enhance the Faculty’s research culture by securing, in collaboration with colleagues as appropriate, external funding through research grants or contracts
- Manage research and knowledge exchange projects within the University, including their financial control, and supervise researchers, research students, and other staff engaged in such projects
- Contribute fully to the research and knowledge exchange plans developed by Faculty, including providing such information as may be required to monitor the progress of each member of staff’s research programme
- Design and deliver a range of teaching and learning, supervision and assessment activities across undergraduate, postgraduate including online/digital programmes where required
- Contribute to curriculum review and enhancement, in a manner that supports a research-led approach to student learning

**Essential Criteria** Senior Lecturer**

**Qualifications**
- PhD in relevant discipline

**Knowledge, Skills & Experience**
- Established track record of high-quality published research with demonstrable proficiency in relevant areas such as infectivity studies, investigating emerging infections and novel treatments, disease dynamics, quantitative and/or population genetics within an aquatic animal health context
- Evidence of success in attracting research grants/external funding and delivering on externally funded research projects
- A track record of HO regulation relevant to ASPA
- Experience of supervising dissertation projects across the range of undergraduate/postgraduate and of supervising doctoral students
- Experience of providing high quality teaching across a range of programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level preferably including online/digital programmes
- Proven experience of programme leadership including experience of designing and delivering course modules
- Experience of providing academic leadership and of successful co-ordination, support, supervision, management and/or mentoring of others
- Evidence or knowledge to lead and support international activities

**Associate Professor**

**Qualifications**
- PhD in relevant discipline
- Higher Education teaching qualification or equivalent

**Knowledge, Skills & Experience**
- A track record of publication in peer-reviewed journals to levels of outstanding international excellence and a strong REF profile
- A record of securing research grants / external funding and delivering on research projects
- A significant record of attracting and supervising research students
- Experience of delivering high quality, inspirational and motivational teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels preferably including online/digital programmes
- Extensive knowledge of issues
