**About the role**:**What you need to know**:

- We have big plans at AIG Life and we believe our management skills and ambition will
- be key to delivering them.
- In order to keep providing excellent customer service to clients and distributors we need talented team leaders on board.
- We’re looking for a new technical claims team leader to join our customer services team and manage our professional claims handlers. We are looking for someone with substantial experience of claims handling and team leadership who will lead and coach our assessors and processes.
- You will become part of a team of Customer Services Team Leaders who work closely together to make sure the needs of the business, clients, distributors and staff are all met.
- This role will be flexible and could be working out of our Reigate office or working remotely, and you will be managing a team of homeworkers.

**What we expect from you**:

- You will have a proven working and higher level knowledge of Income Protection,
- Life, Critical Illness and/or other non-standard products.
- You will have general knowledge of insurance industry codes and current practices
- You will have relevant industry experience (i.e. claims handling in the protection arena)
- You will track team complaints and ensure a strong focus on early resolution of complaints wherever possible.
- You will be able to demonstrate good lateral thinking and problem-solving skills
- You will work closely with strategic claims, underwriting and operations to implement appropriate solutions and philosophy. You will respond proactively to business challenges to ensure smooth operations within SLA
- You will have sound decision making skills and ability to risk manage and escalate where appropriate.
- You will supervise, develop, coach and motivate your team to ensure that they are engaged and energised to work at their best
- You will support the team in placing the customer and our distribution at the heart of our business, ensuring TCF principles are maintained
- We expect you to be forward-thinking, looking for ways to continually improve the way we work, and be able to make decisive changes to ensure efficiency and strong quality performance in your team
- You will communicate directly with your team to make sure they are kept informed of business performance, key messages and what is expected of them particularly when navigating change. Most if not all direct reports are homeworkers so you will be managing remotely and may be required to travel to see your team members at times
- Be able to demonstrate the ability to resource your team and forecast work volumes accurately up to 6 weeks ahead, as well as with the daily management of work and liaising with other teams when planning ahead
- You will manage performance, sickness and any disciplinary issues, and be able to have challenging conversations when required
- Display role model behaviours, leadership and organisational skills, and have confidence in making decisions
- You will participate in recruitment activities (including making decisions on individuals)
- You will need to be flexible with your working hours at times
