We are looking for An Assistant Director of Operations - UEC who shares our vision, ambition and values. The Assistant Director of Operations will be accountable for the effective leadership and management of the Service Group. This role will drive strategic change on a significant scale whilst delivering rapid and tangible improvements in quality and timeliness in access to care. It is a hugely exciting time as the Health Board starts to implement its strategic ‘Changing for the Future’ programme particularly focusing on the evolution of Morriston, Singleton and Neath Port Talbot hospitals which are to become individual ‘Centres of Excellence’ with Morriston Hospital becoming the Health Boards primary provider of emergency care and specialist surgical services.

- Assist the Chief Operating Officer to develop an organisational culture that supports clinical engagement in decision making and a drive for continuous service change and improvement.
- Promote continuous evaluation of existing services and development of alternatives that offer greater benefits.
- Act as the lead change agent driving forward the integration of the various components of the Health Board to develop a unified organisation which delivers a service that: Delivers improved population health and wellbeing, reduces inequalities, and Improves patient safety
- Create the clarity, coherence and realism necessary for the development of services that improve health and well-being and reduce inequalities, minimising harm, waste and variation; are of a demonstrably high standard in terms of effectiveness, efficiency, safety, timeliness and the patient experience; secure the maximum benefit from resources and are sustainable over the long term.
- Work with executive directors, service group directors and other senior managers to integrate service, capital, workforce, IM&T, and financial strategies to deliver the objectives of the Health Board ensuring a corporate approach to the delivery of clinical services

SBU (formerly ABMU) was created on April 1, 2019 after responsibility for providing healthcare services in the Bridgend County Borough Council area passed from ABMU to the new Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.

We serve a population of around 390,000 in the Neath Port Talbot and Swansea areas and we have a budget of around £1bn. The health board employs approximately 12,500 staff.

**It has three major hospitals providing a range of services**: Morriston and Singleton in Swansea, and Neath Port Talbot Hospital in Baglan, Port Talbot. We run a community hospital and primary care resource centres providing clinical services outside the main hospitals. As an integrated health board, SBU has 49 GP practices in their area, 72 dental practices including orthodontists, 31 optometry practices and 92 community pharmacies. Mental health and learning disabilities services are provided both in hospital and community settings.

Morriston Hospital is a 750-bed teaching hospital and is the site of the major Emergency Department for Swansea. In addition to general surgical and medical services, Morriston houses the Welsh Centre for Burns and Plastic Surgery covering south and mid Wales, and the south west of England. It also delivers one of two cardiac surgery services in Wales. Also forensic mental health services are provided to a wider community which extends across the whole of South Wales.
