We are looking for an individual to join our school team. Duties will include, but not be limited to:

- Receiving, from teaching staff, children who are taken ill during the day, checking for fever and caring for them in the medical room until they are collected by a parent/carer.

Receiving, from teaching staff, children who have accidents and injuries during the school day, treating them as appropriate and caring for them in the medical room until they are able to return to class or are collected by a parent/carer.

Responding to medical emergencies anywhere in the school as needed. Assessing any illness, injury and accident of a child and advising senior management as to whether or not outside medical intervention (e.g. paramedic or NHS walk in centre) is needed.

Maintaining medication administration records in accordance with the school’s standard procedures. Telephoning parents/carers to advise them of illness of children, injuries where necessary and all accidents involving bangs or bumps to the head.

Maintaining allergy and other health condition records in accordance with the school’s standard procedures.

Ensuring that adequate supplies of first aid equipment are maintained throughout the school at all times.

Ensuring children’s medication is taken off site (trips, lessons, events), signed out and back in and returned to the correct place. P

Producing and maintaining the register of times and dates when children’s medication is required to be taken off site.

Reception desk cover.

A friendly, calm and outgoing personality is important. The ability to remain calm in a busy environment and work under pressure are vital. ICT skills, including knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook are important. Applicants must have a GCSE in English and Maths and a current first aid certificate. Previous experience is essential.
