Job description:
**BRIEF OVERVIEW**

We are looking for an experienced, professional, and structured Customs Director to manage a large Customs team across various locations within the UK.

**KEY TASKS**
- Overall responsibility for a team of customs experts, operatives and managers.
- Responsibility for the customs clearance process across the business unit.
- Ensuring all operations are compliant with prevailing UK regulations and DSV policies.
- Accountability for the Customs KPI’s across the business unit.
- Responsible for driving/improving optimisation and process development.
- Supporting the business unit providing high level guidance and advice on customs legislation where necessary.
- Overall responsibility for the knowledge of the customs department, ensuring training is provided where necessary.
- Driving results regarding governance and process across the business.
- Timely decision making, often under complex and demanding circumstances.
- Challenging the status quo in order to achieve a culture dedicated to continuous improvement and best practice.
- Enhance and drive Productivity within the teams
- Responsible for compliance and accurate processing of Import and Export Transit documents
- Responsible for all DSV ETSF Terminal operations
- Full Ownership of P/L and associated budgeting
- Full Ownership of Vat and Duty accounting relating to the Road division.
- Work with operations and Distribution reducing dwell time on consignments and maintaining clear terminal space at all times relating to c/clearance processing.

**ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS**

- A strong knowledge and experience UK and EU customs regulations.
- A broad experience working with global Customs and an up-to-date knowledge of all relevant legislation.
- A proven track record at managing large customs clearance teams.
- Extensive customs experience in a multinational environment.
- A strong sense of responsibility and great leadership skills.
- Expert knowledge of UK customs systems, for example CHIEF/CDS, Descartes ICE/E-Customs.
- A strong working knowledge of HMRC approvals; Consignee/Consignor, ETSF, CFSP, Customs Warehousing and Transits.
- A proven experience in managing P/L
