Southport, United Kingdom Amber Family Full time

Amber Family has four residential family centres, located in Southport, Merseyside. We work in partnership with parents over the age of 16 to assess parenting capacity and undertake 12-week parenting assessments. At the end of the assessment period, recommendations are made to assist Local Authorities with future care planning.

Amber Family has been running for almost 10 years and started with one house which could house up to four families. We have expanded over time, and we now have four houses open.

As our service is so unique, **previous experience in a similar setting is not necessary**. You will be given the highest calibre of training and support until you feel confident within your role. All we require from you is to have a caring nature and be comfortable holding, feeding and changing a baby. You will need to be able to understand that some of our parents present with challenges and will be mindful and supportive of this.

**Hours of work**:

- As an introduction to this role, you will work in a Support Worker capacity, whereby you will work a variety of shifts (including day time support, weekend support and night support) across all settings, so that you can experience Amber Family as a whole, before commencing the Trainee Key Worker role.
- Once the Trainee Key Worker role commences, the hours will be Monday - Friday, a mixture of early (7am-3pm) and late (12-8pm) shifts
- There is a requirement to work one weekend day every 4 weeks, with a day off the following Monday
- There is a requirement to contribute to the safeguarding on call rota, which works out as 2-3 days on call per month.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Support families on their arrival to the setting, ensuring that a comprehensive induction is carried out, which outlines the purpose of their stay at Amber Family and what they can expect during their stay with us.
- Develop Placement Plans, in conjunction with the Local Authority Social Worker, for the two families that you will be key working. Update the Placement Plans throughout the period of assessment.
- Ensure that all parents are fully supported throughout their assessment.
- Contribute to comprehensive, factual daily logs, recording observations relating to families, and hand these over to the next person on shift. These logs must be accurate and objective, so outstanding interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
- Organise weekly meetings with the families that you are working with, to provide them with feedback and support, and produce written reports of these meetings.
- Contribute to the family’s assessment plans and with the family assessor, consider any direct work that the Assessor may need to undertake with the family to help inform the final report.
- Work as part of a team, demonstrating an understanding of the Amber Family vision, values and behaviours expected of all our staff and parents.
- Support parents to attend various appointments, groups or activities.
- Keeping on top of changes to current NHS Guidelines or changes to legislation or best practice.

**What Amber Family can offer you;**
- A comprehensive training programme.
- An amazing rewards scheme and regular team events
- Outstanding development opportunities, such as degree level qualifications, funded by the company.
- Progression opportunities.
- Workplace pension.
- A loving and supportive team of colleagues who always go above and beyond for each other.
