**Job Title: Finance Assistant**

**Reporting to** Finance Manager

**Purpose of the Job**

To administer, maintain and manage accurate records with regard to all aspects of the finances of the Solace group and related companies

Employees will need to attend the office more frequently during their induction period. Once the induction period is completed employees are expected to work 2 days a week in the office in Wakefield and will need to be flexible on attending quarterly company events in the office.

**Principal Responsibilities**
- Maintain and input all financial information into ledgers, including the raising of sales invoices and the processing of purchase ledger items, ensuring all invoices are input promptly and accurately.
- Administer payments to suppliers
- Process Bacs transactions on both the purchase & sales cycles
- Complete daily, weekly and monthly duties including bank reconciliation, general financial accounting.
- Maintain accurate and up to date member subscription and contributions records and the organisation of the collection of monies from members and contributors.
- To keep an up-to-date credit control system and chase payments
- Maintain & input financial information into the company database (Salesforce)
- Undertake other administrative and finance-related tasks as requested

**Key Relationships/Contacts**
- Internal: all Solace group staff
- External: members, service providers and suppliers - mainly to process payments and resolve payment queries.

**General Requirements**

Post holders are expected to work collaboratively with colleagues within the group, partner agencies and other organisations for the delivery of excellent integrated services for our customers.

All staff will be collaborative and flexible in their duties, modelling the group's core values and standards in carrying out the job.

In addition, all employees will:

- Contribute to a coordinated approach to the development and overall direction of the Group and the delivery of its priorities.
- Act as an ambassador for the Solace group, promoting and developing the group's image and opportunities in the interests of its membership, and stakeholders.
- Carry out any other duties (across the wider group where appropriate and/or necessary) that are commensurate with the grade and falling within the general scope of the job.

**Person Specification**

**Qualifications**

Qualified to GCSE level or above, with at least grade C (or equivalent) in Maths and English

**Knowledge**
- Understanding of financial management processes and procedures
- Awareness of generally accepted accounting principles and legislation affecting charities and commercial operations
- Appreciation of the objectives of the Solace group and the environment in which it operates.

**Experience**
- Use of accounts packages Sage 50 and/or Sage 200
- Delivery and support of day-to-day financial processes
- General administration support

**Skills & Abilities**
- Organised with the ability to establish, monitor and maintain office systems and processes
- ‘Can do’ attitude, willing to contribute to activity outside of core job role
- Excellent IT skills & good working knowledge of Microsoft office
- Professional manner and attitude, able to remain calm under pressure and adapt to change
- Able to demonstrate:

- attention to detail
- good administrative skills and excellent customer service skills
- ability to work individually and as part of a team in a small office
- ability to manage own workload and to meet deadlines

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 18 months

Pay: £24,000.00-£26,000.00 per year
