St Andrews, United Kingdom University of St Andrews Full time

The South Asia History Project, at the University of St Andrews, aims to impact the way UK school children learn history. Initially, this will be via roll out of schools workshops, at both primary and secondary schools around Scotland. The workshops are based on the UK and Scottish curricula, but springboard off it to teach history from a variety of perspectives, focusing on cross-cultural exchange and celebrating the achievements and contributions of individuals from around the globe to the making of the modern world.

A vacancy has arisen for a Project Officer, 0.5 FTE on a fixed term contract for 3 months, whose primary roles will be to teach the workshops and work with the project director on project administration and development.

We seek an enthusiastic Project Officer, committed to the project goals, to help enable the roll out of this new initiative. You will have a background in the education sector, with some administration and teaching experience, and with prior knowledge of South Asian history or religious history.

Main duties:
1. To teach workshops on South Asian history in UK schools.

2. To liaise with schools, and build relationships.

3. To gather informal and formal feedback from schools on the workshops.

4. To market the workshops.

5. To manage the university webpages on the project.

6. To provide administrative support to the project in relation to organizing the workshops in schools.

Applications are particularly welcome from the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community, and other protected characteristics who are under-represented in professional posts at the University.

Applications should consist of a covering letter; a curriculum vitae; and full contact details for three referees. Referees will be contacted by the University directly as required. In the cover letter, you should detail the ways in which your experience to date matches the essential and desirable criteria for the role.
