We’re working with an established charity organisation to find a pro-active Communications Manager to join the Central-London based team on an initial 6-9 month interim basis.

The Communications Manager will help design, organise and deliver the corporate communications strategic plan that directs and oversees all internal and external strategic communications, working alongside the wider team to ensure that the mission, vision,and values of the charity are clearly articulated and understood by internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting to the Director of Communications and Engagement, the Communications Manager will provide day to day support and management of several aspects of the communications output - including brand management, team planning, and the teams digital offer.

**Key Responsibilities**

Communications & Branding
- To work with the Communications Team to ensure effective delivery of the communications strategy and plan. This includes external communications output, managing resource and capacity in the team to meet expectations, and managing relationships with otherdepartments and teams.
- To play an important role in ensuring the new brand positioning is understood internally and rolled out effectively with target stakeholders.
- Working with the Director of Communications and Engagement and relevant departments to help deliver a positive and coordinated internal and external communications approach to the charity’s primary and secondary purposes, ensuring the most appropriate andeffective method of communication is used and that any potential risks are effectively and timely managed.
- Work with the Funding Team to deliver clear and compelling communications of all funding programmes, initiatives and associated learning, and ensure they are marketed to clearly identified target audiences and stakeholders.
- To ensure the newly refreshed website continues to be evaluated and updated, is easy to understand navigate and use for the audiences.

Leading, Empowering and Managing Relationships
- To identify and plan a calendar of strategic opportunities to plan and execute effective communications campaigns, events and conferences in order to promote the branding, vision and impact and reputation of the charity.
- To provide inspiring and clear management to the communications team as required, setting out clear plans and expectations with deadlines; carrying out appraisals where required, providing guidance, assessing performance and providing development opportunitiesto the team as required.
- To develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all relevant communications professionals across the wider organisation for the purpose of ensuring that all external communications are in keeping with agreed guidelines to ensure consistent,mutually re-enforcing messaging and a co-ordinated approach to influencing is achieved.
- To identify, mitigate and respond to any reputational risks associated with the charity’s broader philanthropic and charitable activities, providing timely and efficient response in collaboration with senior board members.
- **Key Requirements**
- Demonstrable experience of developing and implementing communications strategies and plans to meet strategic corporate objectives.
- Proven experience in managing a communications schedule/diary.
- Demonstrable experience using different marketing tools and techniques, communications and public relations, including digital and social media.
- Experience of providing strategic communications advice to internal stakeholders at all levels across the organisation, including senior managers and boards.
- High level of proficiency in IT systems ,particularly Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), publishing software, websites and digital and social media.
- Ideally charity sector experience.
- Ideally a firm understanding of key issues facing the charitable/ philanthropic/ responsible business sectors in the UK.
