Longbarn, based in Blackwood provide a housing solution for people who are homeless and addressing their substance or alcohol misuse issues. You would be supporting these incredible individuals with their recovery journey with the aim to move them onto independent living.

We love to engage with the people we support in positive activities. This is an exciting opportunity as no 2 days are the same as everyone who comes through our doors has a different story to tell and different support needs.

This is role is on a temporary basis until the end of July 2024.

**What is great about the role?**

We support individuals who have a variety of complex needs and backgrounds, we enable them to move forward into long term supported accommodation or alternatively their own tenancy and live independently, we pride ourselves on an individual person centre approach. **Your day will consist of**:

- Engaging and interacting with our service users
- Writing and following a support plan with the individual you are supporting
- Delivering workshops relating to tenancy management and health and wellbeing
- Liaising with external agencies
- Supporting with external appointments to GPs and job centres
- Organising and participating in activities and day trips
- Dealing with any conflict that arises
- Addressing any additional needs, the people we support might have

Our motivation is to ensure we equip these individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to live independently. This is a challenging role and you will be faced with complex behaviours and needs, including alcohol misuse, mental health, substance misuse, victims of domestic abuse, care leavers, refugees and offending behaviour. You will work with a range of different personalities and behaviours so you will need to be able to adapt your approach to engage with a diverse cliental**.**

All of our schemes are covered 24 hours, 7 days a week so you would be expected to work on a rolling rota which would involve: days, evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
You will receive additional payment of £34.54 for sleep-ins.
