**Job summary**:
Central Forest District has responsibility for the management of some 30,000 ha of the public forest within a triangle formed by Liverpool, Hull and Milton Keynes.

The district contains some of the busiest woodlands in the UK and caters for a wide diversity of recreational use.

This post will be based primarily at Market Rasen Lincolnshire or Fineshade, Northamptonshire and will be required to provide tractor resource for approx. 9,000ha managed by 2 beat foresters mainly in the counties of Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire. travel to and work within other areas of Central England Forest District may also be required which may require overnight stays for work and training courses.

**Job description**:
To carry out a range of mechanical operations including; mowing, mulching, scarifying and hedge cutting. The post will also be a relief operator for mulching and scarifying to support the replanting programme.

**Person specification**:
Key Work Areas:

- To carry out tractor based work as required
- To help the district maximise its output with the available resources, while maintaining high work standards.
- Accurately record and report, resource usage, daily work outputs and hazard, constraint and environmental information for management purposes.
- Plan and organise your workload effectively so that all operations are undertaken safely and efficiently. Abide by all relevant health and safety procedures.

**Experience**:
**Essential**

Previous experience of forestry/agricultural tractor driving with a range of implements

**Desirable**

Experience of working in the forestry/environmental sector. Experience of writing and using risk assessments.

**Professional and Technical**:
**Essential**
- Demonstrate numeracy and literacy skills
- Ability to demonstrate a clear mechanical aptitude.

**Desirable**
- Ecological knowledge and experience.
- Demonstrate the ability to assess and manage risk to ensure safe working practices are maintained at all times.
- Forest Machinery Operators Certificate.

**T**echnical skills**:
