The Clinical Research Facility (CRF) is looking for a Band 2 Clerical Research Assistant. The CRF is a Phase 1 MHRA accredited unit, the first NHS trust in England and Wales to achieve this standard.

The post holder will be involved in performing a variety of clerical duties within a research environment and in such a way as to make a direct and positive contribution to the organisation, supporting unit administrative requirements along with the wider research team to deliver high quality research.

As a Clerical Research Assistant on the CRF the post holder will be responsible for performing a number of clerical and administrative skills including; using Trust systems to book appointments, developing and maintaining CRF Spread sheets, managing the CRF appointment booking calendars, organising and recording minutes at various meetings along with supporting the CRF research staff on individual projects.

The post holder will also support multiple visiting research teams on a daily basis along with facilitating telephone enquiries from patients, relatives, medical staff and clinical trial personnel where appropriate.

Within the CRF you will have an opportunity to work within a multi-disciplinary team including but not limited to: Clinical, Medical, Laboratory, Recruitment and Data teams.

The full team works together collaboratively and effectively to maximise success of all the projects we undertake.

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The duties and responsibilities listed below are not intended to be exhaustive but are set out to indicate the main areas of activity expected. Post-holders will therefore be expected to adopt a flexible approach when required.
1. Liaise with all other departments within the hospital, i.e. wards, medical outpatient departments, cardio-respiratory department, medical records etc. with regard to all aspects of patient care, e.g. Appointments, investigations etc.
2. Operate computer to enter and retrieve data (Microsoft Excel & Access & Word etc.).
3. Typing of letters, reports and minutes of meetings as required
4. Deal with telephone enquiries from patients, relatives, medical staff and clinical trial personnel, recording messages where appropriate.
5. Retrieval of medical records, investigation reports, etc.
6. General clerical duties including filing of reports/letters, photocopying, faxing and correspondence.
7. Observe strict confidentiality in accordance with the Data Protection Act and Caldicott Principles.
8. Attend training courses as and when required.
9. Attend Investigator Meetings for clinical trials.
10. To comply with ICH GCP.
11. Promote, monitor and comply with all aspects of Health and Safety.
12. Undertake any other duties deemed relevant to the post and grade.
