Founded in 2012, Helica (Scotland) Ltd provide a range of management and quality control services to the construction industry, tailored to our clients’ needs and their projects. We are all about flexibility, innovation and results.

Among the projects we have been involved in are distilleries, affordable housing developments, supermarkets, and private housing. We work with a variety of clients including local authorities, housing associations, private developers, architects, and structural/civilengineers.

With the quality service and personal experience we provide to our clients, we have an established client base that continues to grow. Many of our clients have been with us since we formed in 2012, and we have 80% repeat business.

**Are you the right person for us?**
- A construction trade or site management background is essential
- You will be able to demonstrate a broad knowledge of construction in general
- Experience in timber frame construction is a pre-requisite
- You will be based in the central belt of Scotland
- Full driving license is essential
- You will have experience as a Clerk of Works backed up by a relevant qualification, such as membership of the CIOB (MCIOB) or Institute of Clerk of Works & Construction Inspectorate (ICWCI)
- You will be able to work independently and have good communication skills
- You will have IT skills including experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and hopefully MS Project, SharePoint and PDF software such as Bluebeam or Adobe
- You will have a working knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation and the 2015 CDM Regulations

**What will your role as a Building Clerk of Works look like?**
- Inspecting construction work and comparing it with drawings and specifications
- Working with the site teams and using your experience to help identify potential issues and the means to avoid them
- Identifying defects and suggesting ways to correct them
- Monitoring progress and reporting to construction managers, architects and clients
- Keeping detailed records of progress on the sites you will be visiting
- Referring to plans and taking photographs of work, along with measurements and samples
- Liaising with contractors, engineers, architects, surveyors etc
- Checking that building regulations, health and safety, legal and ecological requirements are met
- Working between home and construction sites
