**The Role**:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Accountant to join our fast-moving and dynamic business. This role offers tremendous growth potential within our organization and the chance to assume responsibilities quickly. As a Trainee Accountant, you will work in our Finance team, closely collaborating with the Finance Director. We will provide full training and career development opportunities to individuals who are enthusiastic about growing their careers and completing their professional exams. Joining our Finance team at this pivotal time will allow you to gain experience and skills in various areas of finance while contributing to our continued success.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
As a Trainee Accountant, your main responsibilities will include:

- Cashbook processing, posting, reconciliation, and analysis.
- Monthly bank reconciliations.
- Management of petty cash and credit cards.
- Analysis and investigation of profit and loss (P&L) and income expenditure.
- Assisting in aspects of management accounts preparation, including journal posting and account reconciliation.
- Supporting the sales invoicing function and credit control.
- Supporting the purchase ledger, including invoice processing and payment.
- Maintaining the fixed assets register.
- Handling governmental submissions.
- Engaging in other activities within the Finance team, demonstrating role flexibility as needed.

**Requirements**:
**Essential**:

- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a finance role.
- High levels of enthusiasm.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team player.
- Proficiency in IT and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to challenge.
- Ability to plan and manage changing priorities.
- Capacity to work to deadlines, both internally and externally.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.

**Desirable (but not Essential)**:

- Familiarity with Sage 200 Accounts.
- Experience in system implementation.
- Knowledge of payroll processes.

- Competitive salary ranging from £21,000 to £25,000 per annum (based on experience) with the potential for KPI-related increases.

Key Responsibilities: Process payments for approximately 1300 employees - both weekly and monthly paid Ensure payments are correct, which in turn will ensure that budget reports are an accurate reflection of expenditure income Maintain all documentation and records pertaining to the section Investigate and answer queries both verbal and written Propose changes to working practices in the Payroll Department Follow payroll procedures/policies and may be asked to comment on service improvements and changes Hold responsibility for payments to employees amounting to £17,000,000.00 per annum on average Check & verify financial aspects of notified Changes to Contract and Claims Forms totaling more than £1000.00 per month Check accuracy of work of colleagues relating to payments to employees Train, instruct and demonstrate complex activities, procedures, conditions of service, computer system, and statutory regulation to new staff Retrieve information from computerized systems to respond to complex queries from employees and outside agencies
