This is an exciting alternative career option open to RGN's and qualified Paramedics with 3+ years' post qualification experience.

Custody is both a dynamic and lively environment, with no two days the same. The police can detain individuals for up to 24 hours and within this time, we provide a high level of care to detainees and their needs, which can vary from drug/alcohol dependencyto acute medical episodes.

Our dedicated Forensic Nurses are also fully trained to collect forensic samples which can assist the police with their investigations.

**Experience within forensics is NOT NECESSARY.**As a Forensic Nurse, you will work closely with the Police and receive training and support to become an accredited Forensic Practitioner.

This is a Bank position/ zero-hour contract.

**Duties of a Forensic Nurse include**:

- forensic sampling (including road traffic offence bloods)
- signposting and conducting referrals, offering support for vulnerabilities, and supporting patients to break patterns of re-offending
- delivering substance misuse therapies
- assessment and care of detainees and staff in custody suites
- acute disease management
- promoting good personal healthcare
- working with Liaison and Diversion to identify any mental health needs

**Essential Skills**:

- Qualified Registered Nurse or Paramedic
- A minimum of 3 years' post-qualification acute medical healthcare experience

**Desirable Skills** Previous experience in any of the following would be ideal to assist you in the role: A&E, walk-in centre, Paramedic Practitioner, substance misuse, community nursing, Police custody, prison, or other relevant discipline.
