**Job Title**: Packaging Designer Apprenticeship
**Job Purpose**:
Graphic Packaging International are recruiting for a talented and skilled Packaging Designer to join our existing high performing New Product Development team. The role is a full time, permanent role based at our new purpose built and impressive manufacturing facility at Yate.
**Main Duties**:
- The packaging and beverage industry and its markets
- How the organisations in the packaging industry work, including their culture, values, processes and how the apprentice fits in
- Technical knowledge and packaging industry practices, processes and the materials used, to carry out the occupation effectively. This will include continuous improvement, CAD design, sample making, material properties, and some graphic design.
- NPD Design processes and equipment and the commercial impact of their role e.g., ensuring designs are ‘fit for purpose’.
- Customers’ expectations in terms of order specification and timescales
- Quality expectations and how they are managed.
- The packaging industry health, safety and environmental requirements and laws
- Problem solving
- Use various computer aided software in the design of packaging solutions and the production of packaging specifications and their relationship with production processes.
- Correctly follow a sales/customer brief accurately and execute on time.
- Efficiently operate sample making machinery and equipment according to specifications and timescales
- Follow a structured approach and methodology to identify areas for improvement, proposing and implementing solutions.
- Carry out work to required quality standards, targets, deadlines, and company standards.
- Keep accurate records using both digital and manual processes.
- Comply with health, safety, and environmental requirements at all times.
- Communicate and work effectively with others, including receiving and giving clear instructions to colleagues.
- Implement practical solutions in a timely manner

**Requirements**:
- Experience in a similar role would be advantageous
- Good standard of education, including Maths and English (spoken and written)
- Competent user of MS Office and other Computer packages
- Able to work on own initiative
- Some level of interest in technical issues
