North Shields, United Kingdom Northumbria Healthcare - NHCT Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Full time

The role involves proactively monitoring suspected and diagnosed cancer patients ensuring that their journey is processed in a timely and efficient manner, in line with Cancer Waiting Time Targets.

It is essential that the post holder has a full understanding of the Cancer Waiting Times Targets and the impact these have on both patient and Trust.

It is very important that the post holder has excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks in order of importance. It is also essential to be able to use your own initiative to resolve problems and also work as part of a team in order to meet personal and business objectives.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. High quality patient care is at the heart of everything we do and we strive to ensure every single patient and service user has an exceptional experience with us. We have one of the most extensive patient experience programmes of any trust in England.

The postholder will be expected to track suspected and diagnosed cancer patients throughout their hospital journey. This involves documenting each step in the Somerset Cancer Register and escalating any investigations or appointments which fall outside of the agreed timescales. It is imperative each pathway is streamlined so that patients can be treated within the nationally agreed Cancer Waiting Times.
