Salford, United Kingdom City Excavations Ltd Full time

We are a busy tipping and aggregate recycling company based in Salford and are looking for an Operation Support Person/Class 2 Driver to manage and maintain our fleet of drivers and tipper trucks respectively.

In this critical role, we are looking for a proactive and resilient individual to fulfil our compliance requirements relating to the O Licence, and to generally support our transport and aggregate recycling operation.

**Responsibilities of Role**
- Maintain operational resilience with ongoing recruitment of suitably qualified drivers, vetting applicants, interviewing, salary negotiation and appointment.
- Planning and communicating daily driver work schedules.
- Daily driver ticket and load checks
- Liaising with mechanics, tyre fitters, transport manager etc to order parts, arrange repairs, keep on top of 6 weeklies & MOT’s etc to keep the wagons operational
- Occasional fitter duties where required including tyre changes and transporting vehicles
- Ordering other supplies including fuel, oil, ad blue etc and managing fuel card usage to ensure the best prices
- Carrying out induction training, regular reviews and ongoing training via toolbox talks etc and keeping records of all such training
- Analysing driver performance by monitoring the tracker during the day and comparing the daily worksheets to expectations to ensure driver and job profitability
- Regular downloading of driver and wagon tachos and analysis of the same using Clockwatcher software. Maintaining records of violations and action taken.
- Carrying out regular checks on tacho cards and recording the same
- Supporting the Office Manager where necessary speaking to drivers regarding performance both informally and formally under the disciplinary procedure
- Supporting business development; ensuring any enquiries are effectively communicated
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment within the yard and workshop
- Liasing with aggregate yard colleagues to ensure operational efficiency
- Operating a class 2 tipping vehicle where required
- Any other associated duties
- Have experience in a transport and/or aggregate recycling environment
- Hold a current CPC and Class 2 licence with tipper experience
- Be able to demonstrate good knowledge of current legislation with regards to Operator Licensing, Compliance, Drivers Hours, Load security and Vehicle Maintenance.
- Possess a positive and approachable attitude and have effective communication skills
- Be assertive when dealing with driver compliance or performance issues
- Have fitting experience/mechanical skills would be an advantage
- Be proactive, reliable and be prepared to adapt to a varied role
- Be physically fit to handle manual tasks
- Possess IT skills in Outlook/Microsoft Office/Excel

Mon - Fri 6.30am - 5.00pm

Salary up to £35k per annum
