To work as part of the inpatient physiotherapy team assisting physiotherapists with the rehabilitation of patients eg helping to get patients out of bed after an operation, mobilising them and helping them to complete their exercise programmes.
- To ensure all physiotherapy department, hydrotherapy treatment, ward and physiotherapy storage areas are clean and prepared for use. This will involve clearing up after use and ensuring all areas meet health and safety requirements.
- To ensure all physiotherapy, hand therapy and hydrotherapy equipment is available, prepared, clean and ready for use.
- Documenting health and safety checks for the department and hydrotherapy areas.

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Physiotherapy Assistant to join our dynamic, friendly and supportive team of physiotherapists and assistants. The post is varied, you will mainly be working on the wards of the adult inpatient orthopaedic team but may also be required to work in musculoskeletal outpatients and hydrotherapy on occasion and the role will require participation in the weekend working rota.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated person with relevant experience. Good communication skills are essential and the ability to work with people as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Your role will have clinical and non-clinical duties including:
Assisting physiotherapists with the provision of inpatient post-operative rehabilitation, helping patients to complete their exercise programmes and practice their mobility when directed by a qualified physiotherapist.

Cleaning / maintenance of physiotherapy equipment and treatment areas and stock maintenance.

Within the physiotherapy department you will be supported by experienced senior staff. There is an active in service training programmes and continued professional development is viewed as integral to providing quality patient care.

OUH is not able to offer visa sponsorship for this Band 3 role
- To prepare treatment areas for use and clear up as required.
- To prepare and clean physiotherapy equipment. This will involve ensuring the physiotherapy equipment in all areas are clean and well stocked.
- To monitor the Physiotherapy equipment requiring ordering on a regular basis to ensure adequate overall stock levels.
- To document, scan and update the patients electronic records
- Other clerical/administration work as required e.g. ordering stock

(electronically) photocopying, faxing, filing, scanning medical notes etc.
- To carry out data collection as required by the physiotherapists.
- To make outpatient referrals for inpatients as appropriate. To organise the hip and knee clinic physio follow up diary, to attend and discharge patients from this clinic when required.
- To assist and undertake basic audits within the department (e.g. hand washing compliance).
- To assist physiotherapists working on inpatients with the mobilisation of patients needing more than one person. This requires the use of moderate physical effort for several periods during a shift.

To participate in the assistant weekend rota and the late shift (extended day) assistant rotas when required which may involve working until 18.00 one day a week.
