People Participation Lead

The post holder will organise, support and promote a wide range of service user and carer engagement activities. The post holder will drive and support the development of Patient Experience and coproduction activities.
The post holder will also act as a facilitator for working groups and forums as we strive to place coproduction at the centre of everything we do. The post holder will lead on patient experience projects, working directly with those with lived experience and participate in monthly learning set meetings with the rest of the patient experience team.
The post holder will work within established procedures and practices, managing own work tasks and objectives effectively, using own initiative.
- To be a point of contact for service users, inpatients, carers and family members seeking help and assistance for patient involvement and engagement related enquiries and issues.
- To act as a coproduction coach in supporting operational teams.
- To lead meetings and events as part of assigned coproduction projects.

What is Staff Bank?
Our EPUT NHS staff bank is an entity managed by the trust that hires clinical and non-clinical healthcare professionals to take on shifts at our trust hospitals and community settings. Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able offer safe and effective care at all times.
All our permanent staff are automatically enrolled onto the staff bank however this does not mean you have to work any additional shifts, but the option is there for you if you wish.
If you are joining our Trust in a fixed term role, please indicate on your New Starter Paperwork that you wish to join our staff bank.
- To be a visible point of contact within the Trust for members of the public, patients, partner organizations and colleagues from other NHS Trusts.
- To support people where there are barriers of understanding or communication.
- To communicate and interact effectively with service users, staff and external agencies to promote patient involvement and coproduction.
- To request clinical advice where required and effectively communicate with staff from other organisations.
- To support the development of and implement the Trust’s involvement and engagement activities.
- To be the main point of contact for all staff and people with lived experiences to ensure that:
- Roles are advertised correctly.
- Necessary paperwork has been returned before commencement.
- Training undertaken before commencement.
- Timesheets completed and provided to finance for payments to be made.
- Ensuring all records are held in accordance with records management guidelines and GDPR.
- To act as the contact point for patients, carers and their representatives who wish to become involved in shaping Trust services.
- To support, supervise and recruit volunteers.
- To support operational services with the organising of Patient Experience projects/activities.
- Facilitate meetings and focus groups with service users and carers as designated by the Head of Patient Experience
- To proactively recruit new Patient Experience volunteers, Lived Experienced Ambassadors and members from all local communities.
- To involve Trust members in patient experience activities/projects with enthusiasm.
- Promote patient involvement with operational senior managers and the Communication Team to ensure that changes to service provision are effectively delivered and communicated.
- To act as a facilitator when required at Trust/service user meetings and/or to independently observe when requested.
- To take responsibility for patient experience activities/projects as directed by Head of Patient Experience.
- To provide administrative and promotional support for meetings and events; including the preparation and circulation of paperwork, taking formal minutes, booking rooms and refreshments.
- To support organising the administration of the expenses reward system for service user and carer involvement.
- To assist in maintaining and updating the Patient Experience section of the EPUT intranet and internet pages.
- To network and liaise with local and national organisations to organise Patient Experience activities and meetings.
- To work with operational services to recruit individuals who provide details of their own experience to influence the Trust’s culture and services and assist in the redesigning of patient processes.
