We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced physiotherapist to become our Paediatric Neuro Physio Clinical Specialist within the Nottingham Childrens Hospital Therapy team.

You will be working alongside a team of qualified therapists and support staff and an experienced MDT to support children who have neurological conditions both as in and out-patient's. As the Clinical Specialist you will be required to support the team with teaching and training as well as managing and providing expert specialist physiotherapy interventions within your own caseload.

You will support service improvement work within the Trust and across the Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System. You will be committed to education and research, and will support these advanced role pillars by optimising clinical audits and research, and supporting the translation of research into practice in Neuro physiotherapy

You will be expected to work collaboratively with the Therapy and Rehabilitation Directorate leadership team as well as the Childrens Hospital Management Team to ensure adherence to national guidelines, best therapy practice, and employ an evidence-based approach to implement service development.

NUH supports 7 day working; you will be required to work flexibly across seven days to support out of hours rosters.

Main duties of the job

To provide clinical leadership within the specialist Paediatric Neuro Physiotherapy service

To maintain and develop high standards of patient care and facilitate and implement evidence based practice

To develop local pathways of care for paediatric Neuro physiotherapy, by establishing collaborative links locally and nationally with other specialist practitioners and disseminate information and developments.

Ensure waiting list targets are maintained by initiating and developing new ways of working.

To evaluate the effectiveness of the service through service evaluation & clinical audit in liaison with the Therapy Services Manager and relevant stakeholders.

Where appropriate, offer extended scopes of practice so as to facilitate the optimal management of patients within a clinical setting.

The Nottingham Children's Hospital (NCH) is based at the Queens Medical Centre campus and is part of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH). We provide In-patient and out-patient care for children up to the age of 19 years old.

We are the regional specialist centre for paediatric neurosciences and oncology and provide intensive neurorehabilitation, early supported discharge and ongoing support for children and young people with acquired brain and spinal injuries - the BRILL (Brain Injury: Living Life) Team.

The Children’s Therapy team at NCH is a friendly and supportive department who work closely alongside the wider MDT, providing excellent evidence based care and innovative ways of working.

As a large acute teaching hospital over two main sites, NUH has a range of fantastic opportunities for staff to develop their careers within the NHS. Physiotherapy is part of the Therapies and Rehabilitation Services pathway, which is one of the pathways that together make up the Clinical Support Division at NUH. Training and qualifications

Essential criteria
- BSc Hons in Physiotherapy or equivalent
- Full HCPC registration
- Recognised post-graduate training relevant to specialty preferably including research skills to a Master’s level
- Evidence of maintaining professional competence through CPD
- Knowledge of National, Trust and Departmental policies, procedures and guidelines

Desirable criteria
- Member of the Association of Paediatric Charted Physiotherapists
- Injection therapy qualification

Communication and relationship skills
