**1.1 INTRODUCTION**

YMCA Swansea was established in 1886, it is a charity & limited company and operates as a social business. It is governed by a Board of Volunteer Trustees and employs a skilled and dedicated team to deliver services and support in Swansea and in communities across Wales.

YMCA Swansea has an established track record of supporting vulnerable and at-risk young people often with Protected Characteristics who may not easily access mainstream provision. We support young people through a range of youth work approaches, with the main ones being one-to-one case management, group work, youth clubs, online, trips and activities, residentials and outreach interventions.

This newly appointed role will lead, shape and deliver our West Glamorgan Partnership (RIF) funded Y-Hub project.

**An enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check for regulated activity (formerly a CRB) will be required for this role.**

**1.2 Y-HUB**

Y-Hub is delivered across two key strands of youth work approaches: A Drop-in Youth Club, which runs on a Friday evening and an Outreach/Street-Work provision that is delivered different nights of the week to meet the needs of young people and the community. Our foundation, our aim and our drive is to create communities where young people truly belong, contribute and thrive. In just a few months of delivering this provision, we have witnessed what an invaluable service, Y-Hub is in achieving this. Y-Hub is genuinely a life-changing and at times a life-saving project.

The Street-based aspect of the project involves responding to areas of risk, where young people are vulnerable to exploitation and more. Outreach has filled a desperate need within the town centre of Swansea, where Youth Workers have provided quality preventative and intervention youth work support for young people. Our Street-based provision focuses on building effective relationships with young people based on trust and respect and building up a rapport, where they may then want to access other centre-based provision.

During Y-Hub's Drop-in Youth Club is somewhere, where all young people are given a safe and warm space on a Friday evening, off the streets, which has consequently led to the young people forming relationships with experienced and professional Youth Workers and other peers. It offers a hot, nutritional balanced meal, ensuring the young people are getting at least one hot meal on a weekly basis.

Y-Hub offers young people opportunities to participate in various activities including art and crafts, music making, karaoke and a selection of games. Each week there is a topic-based activity such as sexual health, county lines, healthy relationships, substance use, boundaries, risk taking, exploitation and more.All young people are given the opportunity to join the YMCA Fitness Centre, providing them with accessible facilities to develop their health and wellbeing.

Y-Hub’s impact demonstrates young people are feeling safer, better supported, and listened too. Y-Hub gives young people the safe space, on a Friday evening as well as acts a catalyst for providing more intensive one-to-one support for individual young people.

The Y-Hub Project Leader will have overall responsibility for coordinating the quality of provision for both strands of delivery, ensuring it is well planned and delivered. Working as the youth clubs/outreach worker in-charge it will involve supporting staff as well as young people. Outside of face-to-face delivery an important aspect of the role will be to attend key regional meetings relating to Y-Hub.

**2.0 JOB DESCRIPTION/DUTIES**

2.1 Co-ordinate the planning and delivery of YMCA Swansea’s Y-Hub Provision as agreed by the Youth and Community Manager & ensure quality of Youth Work Practice, for young people accessing the project.

2.2 Increase provision and participation, widening the reach and access that young people have to the provision.

2.3 Create and maintain a safe and welcoming environment to all.

2.4 Deliver targeted and timely outreach provision

2.5 Work in partnership with Young People to develop and grow the service.

2.6 Both manage and develop the delivery team including sessional workers.

2.7 To ensure all outcomes for the project are successfully completed.

2.8 Prepare and maintain participant files in line with GDPR Regulations.
