Butler Rose is delighted to be assisting this successful Plymouth based manufacturing business with the requirement for a Senior Buyer. The role is hybrid with the ability to work from home once settled

The Role

The role of Senior Buyer is to work across the organisation to ensure the manufacturing site is adequately supplied with materials and products necessary to support all manufacturing and wider business demands. You will also have management responsibility for a small team. Duties include (but are not limited to):

- Purchasing of direct materials in line with operational requirements. Actioning the requirements of MRP.
- Maintaining part and procurement parameters in MRP/ERP, i.e., supplier lead times, strategic safety stocks, yields.
- Running tender processes for new requirements, negotiating pricing and terms and conditions to ensure the best position
- Develop and maintain proactive supplier relationships
- Inventory management. Work with internal and external partners to optimise stock and ensure stock is provided in line with product life cycle and business requirements.
- Identify and manage cost reduction initiatives
- Supplier Quality - work with suppliers and other departments to ensure robust corrective actions are in place to deal with non-conformity
- Management of a small team to development their experience/skill set
- Work with Product/Programme team to manage procurement actions in new product introduction
- On a regular basis monitor Procurement KPI's (OTD, Quality,)
- Build strong internal relationships and work with all areas to address purchasing issues and requirements.

To be chosen for the role you must possess the following skills and experience:

- An understanding of contracts and contract management
- Strong IT Skills and knowledge and experience of working with MRP
- Confident driving contractual negotiations
- Strong organisational skills
- Experience mentoring colleagues or management
- Experience in manufacturing environment
- Positive attitude to continuous improvement
- Well experienced in building internal and external relationships
- Flexible approach to working to meet deadlines

Package
- £34,000 - £37,500 DOE
- Hybrid role
- Good benefits package
- Permanent full time role
