As a Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Dietitian, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to assess and support patients with diabetes within the West area.

This post provides an opportunity to develop skills in the delivery of structured education and group education using the range of national SEREN educational modules. SEREN is produced by the Children and Young People’s Diabetes Network for Wales ensuring that all children and young people in Wales have equal access to standardised education.

You will develop and broaden your leadership and team working skills, through sharing your innovative approaches and leading on projects and training. You will be encouraged and supported in service development and adopting more effective ways of working.

To work in partnership with the paediatrics diabetes team to provide evidence-based care to children and young people; this will include group and one-to-one work.

To see young people in multiple settings, including as inpatients and outpatients - but at times in their own homes or education/social care settings.

To establish new and innovative working practices in collaboration with health and other agencies as appropriate.

To liaise with other disciplines and agencies in order to ensure co-ordination of care.

To liaise with dietetic and paediatric colleagues and develop appropriate resources for programme delivery, reviewing and updating content to meet changing demands.

Supervising and training Dietitians, Dietetic Assistants and students.

Dietetic intervention takes place across a number of settings including children's wards, special care baby unit, in clinic, and through home visits. We utilise telephone and video consultations frequently and support agile working. The service is comprised of a Team Lead, a General Paediatric Dietitian and a Disordered Eating Specialist Dietitian, with support from administrators and dietetic assistants.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
