As part of the Virtual Finance Team, you’ll play a vital role in the practice, carrying out bookkeeping tasks to facilitate the completion of VAT returns, management reports and preparation of annual accounts, whilst utilising the latest cloud accounting technology.

**The role**

Our client is a leading, local, chartered accountancy firm, providing proactive accounting compliance services and tax advice to owner-managed businesses. Based near Saffron Walden, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a hybrid level once integrated into the workplace.

They invest in their staff, so they can add value to the firm and their clients. All staff benefit from regular performance reviews and training, so you are equipped with the right skills and opportunities.

**Your duties**
- Bookkeeping duties for your client portfolio
- Maintain client accounting records - mainly using cloud accounting software
- Complex client tasks, including purchase ledger, sales ledger, bank reconciliations, journals and reporting
- Post year end adjustments
- Post month end adjustments, including prepayments, accruals and depreciation
- Prepare CIS returns
- Prepare VAT returns
- Prepare management accounts and accompanying information
- Help train and support clients where necessary
- Assisting in the overseeing and reviewing of bookkeeping tasks as part of the Virtual Finance Team
- Telephone and video meeting liaison

**What you’ll bring to the table**
- Advanced IT skills (including, Word, Excel, QuickBooks Online and Xero)
- Punctual and attentive to support a busy team
- Able to self-check own work
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with the team, clients and suppliers
- Good organisational and prioritisation skills - strive to reach all deadlines
- Comfortable in training clients on cloud accounting software
- Adaptable, keen and flexible approach
- Professional telephone manner
- Ability to use own initiative and work autonomously, as well as part of a team
- Must have the right to work in the United Kingdom

Job title: Virtual Finance Officer

Location: Saffron Walden, hybrid

Type of Employment: Full time

Rate of pay: Up to £35,000 (DOE)

Holiday: 23 days + bank holidays (pro rata)
