**Health Safety & Environmental Advisor**:**Competitive Salary + Car/Allowance and other benefits**:**Sunderland**:**We are innovative **That’s why we need people like you to help us. People who enjoy finding new ways to solve problems and get things done.

We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Health & Safety Advisor to join our Northern Powergrid contract team, specifically covering our work within major projects and developer services.
**The Role**

We need your help to inspire and help our busy operational teams execute their work consistently, using “best in class” health and safety practices. We’ll leave you to decide how best to do this, although we know that you won’t be standing on the sidelines holding a clipboard and grimacing.

We’ll support and encourage your naturally inquisitive nature as you seek to understand the operational challenges your colleagues face on site. We’ll be looking for practical H&S solutions and helpful advice delivered in a style that motivates your audience. We’ll encourage you to create communications strategies that resonate and inspire from in-person conversation to video and podcasts.

If you enjoy operating in a fast-paced and sometimes transient working environment, which is not restricted to a single or enclosed site, then here are just some of the activities you’ll be getting involved with:

- Managing and executing site inspections
- Advising on and setting Operational team safety objectives
- Supporting and undertaking investigations into accidents and incidents
- Contributing to new tenders and bids
- Assessing external environments for safe working
- Identifying any gaps in the H&S management system; recommending improvements
- Developing and implementing new initiatives or sharing best practices with colleagues
- Advising on and communicating new working practices in line with any new legislative requirements or best practice
- Carrying out ABC tours (Attitude, Behavior and Culture)
- Actively encouraging Safety Observations and Hazard Reporting
**We’d love to hear from you if you can demonstrate **

Exceptional communications skills and Health and Safety expertise are both vital for success in this role.

We’ll also be looking for you to demonstrate an innovative approach to problem solving and originality when landing messages with your operational colleagues.

Significant experience in an advisory role, underpinned by a thorough understanding of current HSE legislation is essential.

A NEBOSH Construction Certification or equivalent i.e., HNC in Construction as a minimum and a Tech IOSH Membership and working towards Grad or equivalent.
