Worksop, United Kingdom YMCA Robin Hood Group Full time

YMCA Robin Hood Group provides housing support for vulnerable adults and young people (aged 16+) at our Worksop Hostel and we are looking for Casual Housing Duty Workers..

If you are looking to work in a role which is meaningful, interesting and makes a real difference to people every day but you cannot commit to regular hours, this could be the perfect role for you.

Whether we need cover for holidays, sickness or long term absence, we have a valuable team of casual staff who support the running of our hostel.

Regardless if you can commit to 1 shift a week or 5, we are really flexible to work around your availability and share our rota as far in advance as possible for you to be able to select the shifts that suit your other commitments. As to be expected, there can be a requirement for cover with short notice but we try wherever possible to give as much notice as possible.

Shifts could include working days, evenings, nights and weekends so we can really offer you a huge amount of flexibility to find shifts which match your free time.

Our Housing Duty Workers are at the heart and soul of our housing team; being the first person most of our residents come into contact with; you will be there to support them with anything they need but also oversee the smooth running of the building in general.

You will be share in our belief that everyone should have a fair chance to discover who they are and what they can become.

Being a Housing Duty Worker is one of the busiest and most varied roles in our service; you will cover everything from support work, incidents, administration, security, fire safety, cleaning support, and anything else that might crop up while you are on shift.

This is the perfect role for anyone who enjoys variety, loves being busy and thrives off never being able to predict exactly what will happen that day

You will support our residents by:

- Providing advice and assistance
- Providing keys/replacements where needed.
- Collecting rent payments and dealing with queries or charges relating to rent payments
- Taking the time to ensure they understand their tenant obligations and their rights and responsibilities as outlined in the License Agreement
- Taking payments
- Providing first aid
- Responding to fire alarms
- Being a first point of call when dealing with incidents, including emergencies, including liaising with the police and other agencies to prevent damage/harm to our residents and buildings.
- Crisis Management and incident reporting.
- If needed, undertake facilities/domestic duties to maintain the upkeep of our building.

Why Work for Us?

We are looking for someone ideally with experience of working in supported housing with vulnerable adults and young people aged 16-25 years old.

However, we are also happy and able to give you the training and development to start your career in Housing.

You will need to have an understanding of the needs of people who may have drug, alcohol and other issues. Regardless of your background, you will be confident to deal with difficult situations and handle conflict appropriately.

This role would suit you if you have experience or a desire to learn skills for social work, youth work, housing, drug and alcohol services, rehabilitation services, sociology, security and much more.

This role will really push your personal skills as we are looking for someone, regardless of experience who can:

- Work with mínimal supervision, use initiative, work alone and work as part of a team
- Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies
- Deal with conflict, manage aggressive behaviour and diffuse situations effectively
- Talk to people of all background and abilities, with excellent communication skills

- Monthly pay via our payroll
- Regular ongoing training
