King's Lynn, United Kingdom The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Within your role, you will ensure the continued delivery of high-quality Obstetric and Gynaecological care to patients within the Trust and community and contribute to the further development of the service.

There may be an occasional requirement to complement the existing general Gynaecology and Obstetrics services and an opportunity to take on extra clinics or theatres. You will be expected to join the on call team on a rota basis.

The appointed consultant would be expected to contribute to the ongoing service improvement programme developing:
Our Maternity Culture Transformation programme

Implementing evidence based new ways of working when necessary.

Working collaboratively with nursing and midwifery colleagues, lead service developments across all O&G services, in line with the Better Births Review and ensuring that learning from reports such as Kirkup and Ockenden are embedded in practice.

To provide an on-call commitment for Central Delivery Suite and emergency Gynaecology cover as 1:10 on call. The post holder will be expected to be contactable and able to reach the hospital when needed within 30 minutes.

To ensure services are delivered effectively and within budget regarding the Trusts' waiting times standards.

To liaise closely with other departments and outside agencies in contributing to the objectives of our services.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) King’s Lynn is located near some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK, along the north Norfolk coast, and not far from Sandringham House.

We provide a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics and community-based healthcare services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, in addition to parts of Breckland, Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire.

We have more than 4,000 staff and volunteers, approximately 530 beds, and a helipad for air ambulances. We work with neighbouring hospitals for the provision of tertiary services, including as part of regional partnership and network models of care, such as the trauma network.

In February 2022 the significant progress that has been made at QEH was recognised by the Care Quality Commission who rated the Trust as ‘Good’ in all of the core services they inspected. They recommended the Trust moves out of the recovery support system (formerly special measures).

Please see the attached Job Description and Person Specification for more information on this role.

We look forward to hearing from you.
