King's Lynn, United Kingdom The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust Full time

The Obstetrics and Gynaecology department is a key aspect of the Women and Children’s directorate and is increasingly important to the hospital as a whole.

A range of general and specialist obstetrics and gynaecological services are offered led by the consultants and supported by doctors, nurses, and midwives. These include urogynaecology, gynae-oncology, ambulatory (out-patient) gynaecology, early pregnancy assessment, colposcopy, high risk obstetrics and intrapartum care.

The post holder will participate in providing first on call cover for both Obstetrics and Gynaecology emergencies supported by the middle grade doctor and consultant on call. These posts are advertised to ensure we have 1 in 8 SHO rota.

**The aims of the post are to**:

- develop enhanced clinical skills, especially in the assessment and management of acutely ill patients as first oncall
- follow patients throughout their clinical pathways
- improve all aspects of communication with patients, carers and staff members working within multi-disciplinary teams
- develop knowledge of hospital systems and clinical governance
- improve competencies in IT skills and critical use of evidence and data
- keep accurate records and completing discharge summaries
- Support career development
- Provide environment for enabling leadership, research, audits, and quality improvement activities

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) King's Lynn is West Norfolk has a superb unspoilt coastline with pretty villages, all with their own individual charm. The medieval port of King's Lynn has some very interesting architecture.

We provide a comprehensive range of specialist and general acute services to around 331,000 people across West and North Norfolk, in addition to parts of Breckland, Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire. We have more than 4,000 staff and volunteers and approximately 500 beds on a single site. Some specialist services and clinics are provided in community facilities, such as the North Cambridgeshire hospital in Wisbech. We work in partnership with neighbouring hospitals for the provision of tertiary services.

In February 2022 the QEH the Care Quality Commission rated the Trust as 'Good' in all of the core services they inspected, and recommended the Trust moves out of the recovery support system (formerly special measures).

We are delighted to have been added to the New Hospital Programme - and we look forward to bringing a new Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) to King’s Lynn and West Norfolk which is nothing less than our patients, local communities and staff deserve.

Please see the attached job description and person specification for more information regarding this opportunity.
