Electrical Lead Engineer
Our client is a large industrial manufacturer based in Fort William (see benefits package below for relocation) looking for the services of a Lead Electrical Engineer - you will report to the on site Maintenance Manager and be responsible for driving and developingthe Electrical Engineering Team. Provide recommendations and technical support on electrical engineering reviews, strategic plans and projects. Assure technical accuracy and quality of all work performed within the team.
The HSEQ responsibilities of the role are detailed in the Organisational Resources, Accountabilities and Responsibilities Element (LOC-ELM-HSEQ-005)
Duties & Responsibilities
- Identify the essential tasks, duties, and responsibilities of the role
- Support with Permit writing process, and associated paperwork, for Contractors with onsite works
- Support major asset capex projects, through inception, design and implementation.
- Train other departmental permit writers in the process
- Train departmental members in isolation policy.
- To drive and develop the Electrical Engineering Team technical competence, identifying development needs of individuals or the group to suitably deliver the electrical & electronics capability within the business
- Take a Lead role in improving department safety standards in respect of Risk Assessment, Method Statements, Standard Working Procedures, Isolation guides and Single Point Lessons.
- Support department responses to unplanned maintenance activities minimising equipment downtime where possible to support plant productivity and ongoing operations.
- Engage with the Reliability Engineers to implement improvements that support the site's reliability centred maintenance strategy, in partnership with the Operations Department.
- Coach, mentor and support the Area Engineers and Planning function, with the objective of delivering a best in class maintenance service.
- Support the Engineering & Maintenance Managers, in the establishment of role competence for Maintenance Operators and Apprentices, in line with their continued professional development.
- Measure and report on individual and departmental KPI's, to monitor performance and equipment reliability within the maintenance function
Person Specification & Experience identify the key competencies required for the role (e.g. communication skills) and any experience the person requires.
- Extensive knowledge of industrial scale process plant operations and maintenance, including related standards, codes of practice and technical procedures, are essential.
- Excellent communication skills are essential, as is people management/ coaching/ mentoring experience of engineering staff.
- Possess a high-level knowledge of electrical engineering, with the gravidas and credibility to support/ guide colleagues to resolve complex maintenance issues when called upon.
- Good knowledge of electrical networks and systems including High Voltage and Instrumentation
- HV experience desirable (Authorised person for switching)
- BS-7671 IEE Wiring Regulations 18th Edition desirable
Education & Qualifications
- Educated to Degree/NHD level in electrical engineering, or equivalent level of experience.
£3,150 person must live local to receive payment
Monday to Friday - 37 hours
15-20% paid annually
£8,000 reclaim as per government guidance (e.g. solicitor fees, estate agent, removal)
3 months rent paid by the company
