**Turning Passion into Purpose**. We are looking to appoint a highly driven individual to join School of Engineering, at LSBU to work in structural and optoelectronics characterisation laboratories. The School has been educating professional engineers for over 125 years. Courses have a focus on work-based learning. They are developed with industry experts and professionally accredited, with live briefs and applied assessments. Working with employers is key to the School and its flexible ways of learning benefit organisations across the industry, whether that’s through bespoke training modules designed to upskill employees, employer-sponsored study or apprenticeships. our facilities are extensive, with 600m2 of specialist laboratories covering almost every discipline. They include a model-making workshop, a fabrication workshop and a £1.4 million 3D Virtual Engineering Lab.

**About you**:
The applicant is expected to have theoretical and practical knowledge in a variety of materials characterisation techniques (including XRD, SEM, AFM, Raman, Ellipsometry, Spectrophotometry, as well as device fabrication and the use of vacuum related equipment). As an excellent communicator you will be able to train and explain technical formalities to those less experienced and be adept at tackling a wide range of technical issues. You should be a team player and be able to develop and maintain positive relationships with researchers and academics.

**Exciting work you will do**:
In this role you will be aiding and training researchers in a variety of characterisation equipment and will be working alongside academic colleagues on a diverse range of research and enterprise projects.
