- The primary role of the Information Standards and Compliance Officer is to develop and promote improved information management practices across the organisation. The postholder will support the Information Manager to provide a high quality information compliance and governance service to include (but not limited to) the development and implementation of information management policies and associated procedures and provision of specialist advice and guidance to the business.- The following reflects typical duties and is not intended to be a comprehensive description of all tasks:
- Business Transformation- To support the delivery of digital transformation initiatives by reviewing, designing new and maturing existing information management practices to deliver best practice and develop action plans to manage information efficiently and improve current compliance processes, systems and procedures across the Group.
- To research, engage and advise on best practice in the context of information standards and codes of practice to assist with positioning the organisation to manage its information effectively and in line with legislation.
- To present results and make recommendations in the format of reports, presentations as applicable to support decision making.
- To support the delivery of the Group’s Open Data Strategy through the promotion of data standards, engagement with the business and proactive publication of data to the NI Open Data Portal.
- Central Support function- To support the business in maintaining compliance with legislation, standards and codes of practices relating to information governance to ensure best practice and statutory obligations are met. This will include policy development, reporting, monitoring and presentations as required.
- To champion detailed record keeping and information control for legal and evidential purposes and to monitor and provide guidance to the business on the on the full and complete cataloguing of information assets on the Corporate Information Asset Register.
- To provide advice, guidance and training to the business on the completion of Privacy Impact Assessments, as and when required as part of our legal obligations under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
- Compliance- To undertake reviews, audits and maturity analysis as directed by the Information Manager to determine compliance and effectiveness against Information Governance standards and principles to include i.e. Public Records Act 1923 and Disposal of Documents Order, Data Protection Act 2018,GDPR and Open Data.
- Fundamental member of the incident response team in the investigation of suspected, potential and actual data breaches and complaints concerning non-cyber data. The individual will be responsible for maintaining the non-cyber data incident management register and to provide support on change initiatives involving information governance risks and recommend opportunities to reduce non-cyber data security incidents.
- Training and Awareness- Support the development and delivery of a programme of information governance training and outreach activities, including the development and maintenance of guidance documents/manuals and e-learning materials for staff.
- Personal responsibilities- Self-aware of personal performance, always striving to improve the service provided to the business. Drives a continuous improvement culture within the team and with colleagues in other business areas through effective working relationship.
- To work effectively as part of the Information Management Team providing support and assistance where needed including deputising for the Information Manager as appropriate.
- Ensure appropriate consideration is given to the organisations equality duties as well as specific commitments associated with the job role.
