**Salary**:
**Lecturer Grade F**: £37,474 to £42,155 per annum

**Lecturer Grade G**: £43,414 to £51,805 per annum

The Role

This role sits within the School of Biomedical, Nutritional and Sport Sciences (BNSS), part of our Faculty of Medical Science who deliver world leading innovation and research excellence. We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences to deliver teaching and student support for the undergraduate Biomedical and Biomolecular programmes in the Faculty of Medical Sciences, including Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Physiology and Biomedical Genetics.

This is a 12-month fixed-term post to cover maternity leave, commencing January 2023. The purpose of the post is to develop and deliver teaching for the school’s undergraduate programmes. The person appointed will also be expected to contribute to course-developments and to aspects of degree programme management, including academic skills support and pastoral care.

Key Accountabilities
- Develop and deliver teaching on BSc/MSci Biomedical and Biomolecular programmes (Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Physiology and Biomedical Genetics) including lectures, seminars, practical classes and honours project supervision
- Set and mark assessments, both formative and summative
- Develop resources for teaching and learning including online and blended material
- Pastoral support for students as a personal tutor and course advisor
- Provide, develop and manage academic skills support for students
- Contribute to pedagogic and/or discipline-specific research within the School and Faculty
- Undertake other duties as requested by the Head of School; this may include contributions to other undergraduate or postgraduate programmes in the Faculty of Medical Sciences

The Person (Essential)

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Knowledge, ability and expertise to teach in a range of Biomedical and Biomolecular Sciences disciplines up to and including Honours level
- Experience of teaching, learning and assessment strategies in Higher Education, including supervision of student research projects
- Experience of working independently and cohesively within a team and contributing enthusiastically to the team goals

Desirable
- Experience of management and development of modules or programmes
- Experience of research in a relevant discipline, including publications in well
- regarded journals

Attributes and Behaviour
- Effective communicator who is able to motivate and engage students and colleagues
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Willingness to work flexibly and according to the demands of the programme

**Qualifications**:

- Honours Degree
- PhD in a relevant bioscience discipline
