Working closely with the occupational therapist within the team to support the assessment of children and young people’s functional needs and their environment, with a focus on their strengths to address their mental health needs. Working collaboratively with the young person and their support system to support the Occupational therapist to deliver focussed intensive brief interventions using community resources to enable the young person to engage in activities that are important to them and that positively support their mental health

This role is supported by strong links to AHP’s working in both CORE CAMHS and the other specialist CAMHS teams. This is an exciting opportunity to demonstrate what this role can bring both to the team and across the wider mental health function

This is a diverse role. We are looking for professionals with a passion for working with our Children & Families, experience in this area is not essential (although beneficial) as you will have the opportunity to expand your skill set and have the opportunity to integrate with our core services, offering learning and development opportunities such as shadowing and specialist supervision and consultation from others working with CYP & Families

In the future the team will offer support to CYP and families 8am-10pm weekdays and 9am-5pm weekends and bank holidays (these hours are likely to be expanded in the to 8am to 10pm at weekends and bank holiday).

Communication and relationships
- Communicate effectively across a wide range of channels and with a wide range of individuals, the public, health and social care professionals, maintaining the focus of communication on delivering and improving health and care services.
- Demonstrate those inter-personal skills that promote clarity, compassion, empathy, respect and trust.
- Contribute to team success and challenge others constructively.
- Communicate with individuals, carers and other services in a courteous and helpful manner, whilst being mindful that there may be barriers to understanding.
- Report to appropriate registered care professional information received from the individuals, carers and members of the team.
- Ensure all patient related information is treated sensitively and adhere to the principals of confidentiality at all times.
- Report any accidents or incidents and raise any concerns as per organisational policy.
- Ensure clear, concise, accurate and legible records and all communication is maintained in relation to care delivered adhering to local and national guidance.
- Ensure ability to manage electronic records system taking cognisance of need to protect access (ID, passwords, swipe cards).

Physical demands of the job
- Standard keyboard skills required for inputting data onto RiO.
- Travelling across the locality of South Staffordshire
- Carrying/transporting equipment i.e. laptop

In MPFT Children and Families Mental Health Function, we work with young people who have a wide range of needs in an inclusive way. Our model places our young people’s needs at the heart of what we offerto ensure that they are getting the best care possible. The Intensive Support Team offers: support and intervention for young people with high risk and complex mental health needs in an intensive time bound way. We recognise the CYP’s home or community environment as being an important part of their recovery, working to sustain the right community support, avoiding admission to hospital wherever possible.

To establish and maintain effective working relationships both within the Trust and with external organisations in order to meet service requirements and support and demonstrate the Trust’s values.

To assess service users, develop and implement programmes of treatment/care/support for individuals, families and carers as appropriate to the grade, under the triage and guidance of registered practitioner. The care/support plans may include the following:

- Promoting independence/self-management and maintaining safety
- Increased functional ability
- Improvement in health and wellbeing including mental health
- Interventions in disease/condition management
- Prevention and reducing of health inequalities
- Contribute to case management/ treatment /care plans/ risk assessment and management

To use own knowledge and judgement to take into account a range of care/support packages and treatment options available. To consider each service user’s personal circumstances and preferences in order to implement and adjust programmes of care and intervention.
