We are looking for a Peer Support Worker to join the growing newly commissioned integrated Op COURAGE Veterans Mental Health and Wellbeing Service. This service covers the East part of the South-East region (Berks, Bucks, Oxon, Hants and Isle of Wight). Within Op Courage we work with military veterans to identify and address psychosocial and practical needs by supporting veterans to connect with appropriate services. We offer psychological therapy to veterans with mental health needs such as PTSD, depression and moral injury. We also work more intensely with veterans that require this due to destabilisation and that might present with risk. Working alongside clinicians, offering support, advice and encouragement drawing on experience of working in mental health/social care sector. This may include support to carers (including friends enabling service users to work towards personal recovery goals, and facilitating engagement with NHS, military charities, and non-statutory services.

This is a permanent post and the post holder will be based out of our offices at Erlegh House, University of Reading and support clients who reside in the Berkshire, Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire area’s although may be asked to cover other parts of the region as required.

Providing one-to-one support to service users, offering support, advice and encouragement drawing on your lived experiences of mental health issues. This may in addition include, support to carers (including friends and relatives) and their supporters in the community, enabling service users to work towards personal recovery goals, and facilitating engagement with NHS, military charities, and non-statutory services.

Promote the rights of individuals by recognising differences and acting in accordance.

Respond to the needs of individual with sensitivity with regard to their age, culture, race, gender, ethnicity, social class or disability.

Promote and maintain effective communication with people in order to build and sustain positive working relationships with Peer Support networks, individuals, families and carers, military charities, DCMHs, Police, and other agencies.

Maintain accurate, confidential records of patient activity, writing reports and letters

You will hold a small caseload of service users with mental health support needs related to their time serving in the military.

**The “must haves” for you to be considered for this role**:
Served in the British Armed Forces.
