**Description of role**:
TWI is a world leading research and technology business, internationally renowned for its expertise in structural integrity, materials and joining technologies. The TWI provides research, innovation, testing, software and consultancy services to develop new technologies, improve existing industrial processes and ensure safe and profitable operation of engineering assets. We undertake projects for clients in a wide range of sectors, including oil and gas, power generation, automotive, aerospace, and construction.

**The main duties and responsibilities for this position are**:

- Leading proposals development for grant funding.
- Combining wide-ranging expertise for front-end concept development, engaging with a broad spectrum of organisations, including Academic Institutions, SMEs and Large Enterprises.
- Supporting Innovation Centre (IC) and Virtual Innovation Centre (VIC) clients, working with ICs and VICs to generate collaborative proposal research ideas to be pitched to public funding programmes (UK and EU).
- Ensuring that strong research proposal concepts are developed for ICs and VICs prior to handing these over to the proposal delivery team, assessing innovative concepts against public funding requirements.
- Researching and liaising with industrial and research partners to gather information for the preparation of public funding proposals.
- Conducting market research and analysis, including new industry trends and future technologies.
- Prioritising incoming work, adapting to meet internal and external customer requirements and working to deadlines.
- Supporting the growth of TWIIN (TWI Innovation Network).

An academic qualification in Engineering is essential, experience in grant funding and proposal development would be advantageous.

**Travel**:
This position may require regular travel both in the UK and abroad.

If this position is to be based in our Middlesbrough office it will part of an initiative known as Centre for Materials Integrity which is part funded by the Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
