Monetley, a full subsidiary of Mercuryo, authorised by the FCA to provide e-money services, is our primary hub for banking-related services (Acquiring, BaaS, Fiat Wallets), and we're currently seeking a Head of Risk to lead our risk management endeavours and elevate our Regulatory Oversight Program to new heights.

**About the role**

As the Head of Risk at Monetley, you will be responsible for steering our risk management initiatives and ensuring that we continue to scale effectively. You will collaborate closely with key stakeholders in Compliance, Legal, Product, Engineering, and other functional areas to uphold Monetley's compliance with all relevant regulations.

The Head of Risk reports directly to Monetley's Board of Directors and Mercuryo’s Head of Legal and Compliance and will spearhead our risk management efforts across all Mercuryo entities, spanning Europe, the United States, and Singapore. In this role, you will have the chance to contribute significantly to the growth of the entire Mercuryo Group, working on a diverse range of areas within the dynamic fintech payments and virtual assets landscape.

**About you**
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in e-money, payment services, crypto, or retail banking.
- Generalist experience across Enterprise-wide Risk Management (such as Strategic, Operational, IT & Information Security, and Fraud & AML Risk).
- Strong knowledge of Payment Services Regulations, E-money Regulations, MICA, FCA Handbook, Crypto, and AML rules in the UK/EU.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to provide effective solutions to challenges.
- Hands-on experience in designing and implementing Risk Management programs.
- Excellent relationship-building skills, impactful contributions, and the ability to influence business strategy.
- Fluent in English.

**Day to day you will**
- Provide risk management guidance to the Mercuryo and Monetley team, business units, and management.
- Develop, review, and maintain risk management policies, procedures, and processes to ensure the adequacy and currency of the systems and controls framework.
- Implement horizon scanning processes to anticipate changes and ensure stakeholders are informed.
- Conduct risk reviews, monitoring, and surveillance to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and practices.
- Generate internal management reports on risk-related activities for further escalation, including the development of risk governance documentation.
- Oversee risk control functions in enhancing processes, like Product Governance.
- Manage the Risk Register and collaborate with departments to identify and assess risks, incidents, and breaches.
- Oversee the escalation, root cause analysis, and remediation of operational risk and data breaches.
- Implement risk-based monitoring and assurance programs for core oversight activities across the organisation.
- Assist in the development and delivery of risk management training for the organization.
- Collaborate closely with Legal and Compliance to establish a robust governance framework.
- Play an integral role in the technology and product teams, ensuring risk management is a core consideration in product development and governance.
- Contribute to the development of the company's new approach to governance.
- Influence the development of a risk aware culture at senior level and within teams.
- Lead the firm’s thinking and oversight of Operational Resilience.

We're hybrid-remote so you should be comfortable picking up new software tools for document drafting, collaboration, and communication. Most of your colleagues will not share an office with you on a day-to-day basis.
