- An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Planning - Core Production to join Rolls-Royce Submarines in Derby
- We’re a leader in propulsion system design and development for the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarine fleet and the sole provider and technical authority.
- As Head of Planning - Core Production you will be supporting the UK’s Continuous-At-Sea-Deterrent through ensuring a complete and coherent plan for production of Naval Reactor Cores. Providing a level of functional independence, and using standard processes, you will be accountable to operationally drive value stream (supplier to customer) on time delivery by ensuring the plan is executed credibly.

- You will identify, prioritise, mitigate and resolve delivery issues impacting the customer. You will have overall accountability for functional and professional development of our P&C population in the Core business. You will be accountable for managing a team of P&C professionals, including on-site Logistics activities, and ensuring inventory accuracy and accountancy requirements are met in full.

- What you’ll be doing:

- You will impartially co-ordinate supply to ensure the best possible customer and business outcome for Rolls-Royce. Ensure all supply chain risks that have potential to impact delivery are identified, prioritised and escalated, where appropriate, within the wider organisation.
- Lead the operational drive within the business to credibly execute the plans, ensuring delivery of customer requirements. Implement and embed standard delivery processes. Ensure that the commitment acceptance is deployed and sustained & ensure root cause analysis is completed for priority parts where the delivery plan has failed.
- Accountable for ERP compliance within the value stream, using the standard, mandated Work Instruction, ensuring robustness of plans through high integrity data. Support appropriate process councils, ensuring sharing of best practice and continuous improvement of standard processes. Help identify, document and deliver areas for supply chain improvement.
- Oversee the load & capacity planning processes across the value streams to ensure delivery plans are supported by realistic manufacturing performance and robust inbound supply plans
- Resource owner for P&C professionals ensuring alignment to generic roles and development of competency in role to the required level. Ensure appropriate, standard physical logistics solutions are in place, working with the wider Submarines Logistics function to ensure the Core Business needs are integrated and robust, and owning the Fissile Material Management Board & on-site inventory management.

- Educated to degree level or relevant professional qualification (eg. APICS).
- Proven leadership qualities through ability to influence outside area of direct control.
- Implemented improvement activity, participated in dealing with change (e.g. process, organisation), and demonstrated problem resolution experience.
- Experience of production planning and control processes, and driving rate readiness / production rate increases
- Understanding of the broad range of products across the Submarines portfolio, with experience of lower volume, higher variety/complexity product types
