London, United Kingdom Whittington Health NHS Trust Full time

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new team rolling out an innovative cross-borough project. The project aims to tackle long waits for neurodevelopmental assessments in North Central London which covers the boroughs of Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey. We are passionate about improving the experience of assessment and diagnosis for children and young people with neurodevelopmental differences and their families/carers. We want to improve outcomes by enabling them to understand their strengths and needs in a timely way so that they can access appropriate support.

This role embraces modern ways of working and will appeal to locals and commuters alike. The team will work partly from home, with flexibility around working hours (e.g. evenings, Saturdays, shorter or longer days, term-time hours). There will be a requirement to attend some face-to-face appointments with families based in North Central London. Some face-to-face work will take place on Saturdays (paid at an enhanced rate).

MAIN DUTIES
- To carry out initial calls to families who have been referred to the service and screen for access needs, risk and co-occurring conditions;
- To utilise standardised assessments to inform formulation e.g. cognitive assessments;
- To carry out school and nursery observations and gather information to support assessments.
- To provide timely and sensitively written reports.
- To support clinicians to complete reports and write young person reports.
- To support psychological input to multi-disciplinary discussions.
- To join qualified clinicians to undertake specific pieces of clinical work.
- To communicate the outcome of assessments to parents, carers, children and young people and professionals with the support of qualified clinicians.
- To support the consistent use of outcome measures in the team; scoring routine outcome measures, data collection, analysis and preparation of reports to contribute to the service’s audits/evaluation of outcome.
- To complete monitoring of clinical outcomes and own activity data.
- To keep clinical records and ensure they are updated in a timely manner.
- To participate in internal and external training and development.
- To support administrative or organisational tasks for the team.
- To attend regular supervision and to reflect on own practice as a clinician in this forum and in team meetings.
- To offer support to the Band 4 Assistant Psychologist within the team.

Whittington Health serves a richly diverse population and works hard to ensure that all our services are fair and equally accessible to everyone. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the way we look after our staff. We aim to employ a workforce which is as representative as possible of this population, so we are open to the value of differences in age, disability, gender, marital status, pregnancy and maternity, race, sexual orientation, and religion or belief. The Trust believes that as a public sector organisation we have an obligation to have recruitment, training, promotion and other formal employment policies and procedures that are sensitive to these differences. We think that by doing so, we are better able to treat our patients as well as being a better place to work.
- Prior experience of carrying out cognitive assessments with children and young people, such as the WISC, the WPPSI and the WAIS;
- Prior experience of screening for neurodevelopmental conditions including autism and ADHD;
- Carrying out telephone calls with clients including risk assessment.

It is helpful if applicants have some experience of school or nursery observations.
