An opportunity has arisen for two Trees & Woodland Advisers to join the Central Trees and Woodland Team, part of the National Trust’s Central Land and Nature Directorate on a 12-month fixed term contract or potential secondment.
Your contribution will be key to National Trust’s ambition to establish and plant 20 million trees by 2030 and integral to NT’s partnership with the English Community Forests.
Please be aware that travel will be required as you will be visiting our properties which are based all over the UK.

What you'll be doing:Your role will be key in driving forward the design and consent of NT tree planting schemes nationally, providing support to NT places within Community Forest areas.
This may include providing dedicated, practical, on-site support to lead on design and consent on behalf of properties or drafting a brief for an external consultant to deliver an approved scheme design.
You will be working closely with properties to understand requirements and provide advice, liaising with NT consultants, statutory bodies and funders to bring schemes into fruition.

- Who we're looking forRelevant experience in forestry, woodland creation, trees and woodland planning and scheme design.
- Knowledge of the planning and consent process and standards for tree planting (i.e. EIA, WCPG, UKFS).
- Knowledge of NT policy and guidance in relation to tree planting and sourcing.
- Experience in building and maintaining great internal and external relationships; listening, influencing and consulting skills.
- An understanding of NT procurement and contracting processes and principles.
- Analytical, numerate, IT literate and have good written and verbal skills.
- Flexible, collaborative, problem solver and able to work with a high degree of autonomy to prioritise work.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise caseloads.
- Able to travel to different NT properties for site visits and assessments.
