Research Assistant in Large Eddy Simulation of

A position exists, for a Research Assistant in the Department of Engineering, to work on Large Eddy Simulation of Flames.

The post holder will be located in Central Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.

The key responsibilities and duties are to (1) conduct large eddy simulation of turbulent flames at elevated pressures using OpenFOAM code, (2) analyse the results and prepare viewgraphs, reports, and manuscripts for discussion in the project meetings and potential publications, and (3) participate actively in the project meetings.

The skills, qualifications and experience required to perform the role are (1) a Masters degree in aerospace or mechanical or energy technology area with a specialisation in CFD, (2) experience in using OpenFOAM for LES in massively parallel computers and (3) ability to think logically with clear communication both in oral and written form. Experience in using LES with FlaRe model for subgrid scale chemical reactions is desirable as this project uses this subgrid scale model.

Salary Ranges:
Research Assistant: £29,605 - £33,966
