**Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant**
We work with a popular Primary School in central Gloucester who needs a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work with a boy who is in year 2 and has special educational needs. This role is needed after the Easter Holidays and will then run until the end of the academic year, with it being reconfirmed each term. The hours are 8.30-3.30 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and then on Wednesdays the hours are 8.30-2 as the school shuts early. You will support the child emotionally and academically, ensuring they remain engaged and focussed with their day.
The school is a good school, with a staff base who are welcoming and supportive. The role itself can be challenging so the school needs someone who can be patient and resilient, someone who is not easily set back. The child has complex needs and so previous experience working with SEN is essential for this, as you must have the ability to demonstrate how to successfully handle different situations. Ideally you will also hold some form of qualification involving working with children, though this is not essential.
**What will you need to do on a daily basis?**
- Convey an understanding of working with children with EHCPs and My Plans;
- Convey the ability to develop caring and supportive relationships with children;
- Use your initiative
- May need to use computing
"The quality of education is good. Pupils enjoy their learning and make valuable contributions in lessons. From their time in Reception, they are taught to be independent and to make the right choices to support their learning. You ensure that there is a balance between learning essential knowledge, and critical communication, language and literacy development. This is achieved through well organised play as well as more formal activities in reading, writing and mathematics, to enable children to make strong progress from the start".
