We are currently seeking to appoint an Employability and Careers Officer on a Full-time, permanent basis.

**Job overview**:
The overall aims of the post are to develop and implement new initiatives to provide graduate careers advice to students and alumni, and developing networks with local employers to ensure a comprehensive and well-maintained portfolio of partnerships, events, and opportunities for students with respect to employability and careers. In addition, the role is pivotal to LSST’s success with its Employability and Careers Strategy for 2028.

**Key responsibilities and accountabilities for all roles**:

The duties and responsibilities and the balance between the elements in the role may change or vary over time depending on the specific needs at a specific point in time, or due to changing needs in the department/LSST.

**Responsibilities as Team Leader**:

- To act as an integral part of a multi-campus Employability and Careers Service (ECS) working on a hub and spoke model. This role will sit within one of LSST’s campuses across London, Birmingham and Luton.
- To develop and deliver employability training, provide advice and support, individually or in groups; write guidance/learning materials to support the provision of a high-quality employability service
- To work collaboratively to better prepare students to take advantage of placement, work experience and graduate level opportunities in support of improved Graduate Outcomes, and to increase student engagement; provide advice based on knowledge and understanding of service area, policies and regulations.
- To work in partnership, as part of a LSST and Departmental teams, to deliver the Employability Strategy 2028 making appropriate use of a range of data and insights to prioritise and target activity
- To act as an initial point of escalation and referral from academic staff on employability issues; provide advice and support to help students to develop their employability.
- To support LSST college, departments and central employability initiatives as determined by the Management, and lead, where appropriate, specific projects/ programmes of work, evaluating impact and effectiveness e.g. - co-ordinate the planning and delivery of equality and diversity activities for students. - evaluate the impact of college and department level activity, assess the changing needs of the provision and present ideas to improve the service.
- To support the development of digital resources, proactively ensuring currency and accuracy of information e.g. careers resources, information about careers related social media channels and designated websites.
- Assisting academic leaders with arranging meetings with external clients including the invitation of clients to meet LSST students at the campuses.
- Visiting prospective employers and arranging meetings with them to establish terms and conditions of work placement.
- Supporting students with preparation of CV’s, letters of intent and interview techniques.
- Completing any required reports and documents in an effective and timely manner.
- Carry out Health & Safety assessments of work placement settings, and to be aware of the issues surrounding Health & Safety/Safeguarding within the workplace environment.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of a database of appropriate employer and commercial/industrial links.
- Assist with work placement correspondence and telephone enquiries internally and externally.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of awarding body quality criteria.
- Provide employment related support to students, e.g. progression to further learning/ work.
- Build relationships with students and provide a career advisory service to students.
- Design and facilitate workshops, e.g. interview techniques, to support further development.
- Support the Head of Employability and Careers, Vice Principal, campus Dean and campus operations manager to liaise with student union and work as a point of contact for student engagement.
- Ensuring the vetting of external speakers to the campus is followed, as per the LSST policies.
- Any other duties as required by the Management, commensurate with the grade of the post.
