Heron House currently has a vacancy for a Kitchen Assistant. You will be working in support of our passionate, hard-working and friendly catering team, to create delicious homecooked meals for our residents.

You will be trustworthy, reliable and punctual; do what is promised, and are prepared to take on different duties and tasks to meet business and resident’s changing needs in your working environment. You will be confident around people; and are able to communicate and interact well with a wide range of people in varied situations.

**Main duties of the Role**
- To provide the highest level of support and attention to residents, ensuring that all contact is polite, friendly, warm and supportive.
- Assist in identifying items to be ordered to ensure levels of supplies are maintained
- Ensure equipment supplied is used with care, in accordance with suppliers’ instructions and training
- Ensure equipment supplied is used responsibly, ensuring any damage or faults are reported to the Head Cook/Cook
- Prepare food items under the guidance of the Cook
- Support the delivery and serving of food, if required
- Understand the specific diets identified as required by residents, and share any dietary concerns with the chef
- Be responsible for understanding Health and Safety requirements. Be clean, hygienic and well presented at all times
- Any incidents or accidents to be reported to the Cook, and appropriately recorded and actioned
- Monitor and maintain kitchen cleaning schedules ensuring that all areas of the kitchen are immaculately clean; including the washing up of crockery and utensils when required.
- Helping to serve meals and drinks at meal times and other times when required, taking care to present meals and refreshments in an attractive way, with polite and courteous service.
- Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of residents you support
- To respect and maintain confidentiality of resident’s personal information at all times
