**Junior Laboratory Technician**
**Location**: Chilworth, Southampton
**Salary**: £18,600 - £21,000 DOE
**Hours**: Evening shift - 28 hours Monday - Thursday 16:30 to 00:00
**Contract**:Part time, 6 months FTC

**About the Junior Laboratory Technician role**:
Working within the Industrial Explosion Hazards Laboratory you will undertake sample preparation & testing of a wide variety of materials, using specialist equipment, for flammability & explosivity testing.
As this is a junior role you will be expected to support the team with general laboratory duties, including cleaning, but you will also have the opportunity to develop and learn a wide variety of tests.
**In order to be successful in this role you must have**:
- A keen interest in science
- Minimum GCSE Level qualifications in Science & Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills
- Ability to identify work priorities and efficiently manage own workload
- Some understanding of COSHH Health and Safety legislation, policies and procedures
- Ideally, experience dealing with laboratory equipment, e.g. Electrical equipment, fume cupboards, pressure vessels, etc. - not essential as training is provided
- Methodical approach to tasks with good dexterity
- Interest in Science (Chemistry/physics)
